Lipitor (ATORVASTATIN) 20 mg tablet belongs to a class of drugs called statins to treat increased cholesterol levels in the body. Lipitor (ATORVASTATIN) 20 mg tablet helps to reduce the levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol in the blood and increase the levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol. Dyslipidemia is the accumulation of unhealthy fat (lipid) levels in the blood. In this condition, there is always low levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL or bad cholesterol), triglycerides (Tg) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL or good cholesterol.

Lipitor (ATORVASTATIN) 20 mg tablet reduces the amount of cholesterol by slowing down the production of cholesterol in the body that can build up on the walls of arteries and block blood flow to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body. Lipitor (ATORVASTATIN) 20 mg tablet helps to reduce the production of cholesterol that can build up in the blood vessels (arteries) of the heart, brain, and other parts of the body. Lowering cholesterol levels helps prevent heart diseases such as heart attacks and strokes in the future. Lipitor (ATORVASTATIN) 20 mg tablet may also be prescribed for people with a family history of raised cholesterol in long-term health conditions of coronary heart disease or type 1, type 2 diabetes, or rheumatoid arthritis.

Consult your doctor immediately if you have skin (jaundice), dark urine, or frequent unexplained muscle pain.
